Attention

Kathy Sierra of ‘Creating Passionate Users’ has put together this set of tips about how to get — and especially keep — someone’s attention.

Everything stems from the insightful words of master-trainer David Lichman:

“The secret is to be more provocative and interesting than anything else in their environment.”

Here are the steps to pulling this off:

  • Be Visual
  • Be Different–Break Patterns and Expectations
  • Be Daring
  • Change Things Regularly
  • Inspire Curiosity
  • Pose a Challenge
  • Be Controversial and Committed
  • Be Fun
  • Be Stimulating. Be Exciting. Be Seductive
  • Help them have Hi-Res Experiences

Great advice to differentiate yourself from competitors!

There’s also insulting them or hitting them. That always gets attention, in an unpleasant though.

Just wanna add that sometimes the best way to attract and hold someone’s attention is to simply make the relationship/communication all about the other person. It sure worked with my girlfriend!
