If the girl you're trying to catch can sense any sort of hesitation or lack of confidence in your wingwoman, then your wingwoman is useless. It takes some practice, but if you found a good wingwoman then you're set. A wingwoman is also accompanying your pool shark coworker to the pool hall and setting up a "my boyfriend keeps beating me at pool...can you PLEASE beat him?"-type betting situation. j/k.
