Kanye West may be outselling 50 Cent’s album, but Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is fast becoming the new reigning hip-hop mogul. At 32 years of age, and $32 million in 2006 earnings, Jackson made No. 2 on Forbes’ Hip Hop Cash Kings list, far ahead of West.
On 50 Cent’s MySpace page you’ll find the release of “Forbes 1, 2, 3,” a remix featuring Jay-Z, who topped the list with earnings of $34 million last year, and Sean “Diddy” Combs, who came in third with $28 million. Each kicks off his stanza by bragging, “I run New York.”
Talk about a celebration and collaboration of hip-hop’s elite!
Here’s a rundown of the Hip-Hop Cash Kings:
1. Jay-Z – $34 million
2. 50 Cent – $32 million
3. Diddy – $28 million
4. Timbaland – $21 million
5. Dr. Dre – $20 million
6. Eminem – $18 million
7. Snoop Dogg – $17 million
8. Kanye West – $17 million
9. Pharrell Williams – $17 million
10. Scott Storch – $17 million
11. Ludacris – $16 million
12. T.I. – $16 million
13. OutKast – $14 million
14. Lil Jon – $14 million
15. Ice Cube – $13 million
16. Jermaine Dupri – $12 million
17. Swizz Beatz – $12 million
18. Chamillionaire – $11 million
19. The Game – $11 million
20. Yung Joc – $10 million
I noticed both Timbaland and Scott Storch made the list. Aren’t both producers more than rappers? Amazing how much they score being behind the scenes.
As cocky as Diddy is, you’d think he’d be number 1 on this list. :p
Jay Z is still the number one cash king. I actually expected Diddy to be higher than 50 cent. Diddy dresses like a Cash King by having class, wearing suits all the time, 50 cent… I don’t notice him much lately, but what he wears… isn’t hard to find, a beater? or topless + pant combo.

Wasn’t Jay Z supposed to retire?
err ahh
the list is called hip hop cash kings.. so i guess it isnt limited to rappers alone. I always thought producers would make more than rappers on average.
Also, I thought diddy would be the richest haha.. err i still think he is… just not in 2006 hah
damn he is balln out of control/.
The first generation of emcees were really the inspiration and foundation of what these rappers are today. With all the cash, its more commercial gain rather than respect. As I stated before, most of these guys looked up to KRS One, Kool Herc, NAS, and Rakim. Its not about how much money these guys earn its about how much respect they have. As KRS said it in Classic, “Me, I got no jewels on my neck, why – I don’t need ‘em I got full of respect”.
