Apple iPhone Goes on Sale Today at 6pm

Just in case you’ve been trapped in a cave somewhere, Apple is releasing a revolutionary phone called the iPhone at 6pm today.

Folks are camping out everywhere to get their hands on one:
Trendy People @ SOHO Apple Store
Circus Frenzy @ San Francisco Apple Store
Folks waiting for 5+ days @ AT&T Store in Lynchburg, VA.

It’s definitely Apple iPhone madness today, and it isn’t like Apple is giving them away for free. Here’s a quick rundown on the cost to own an Apple iPhone over two years (since you must sign a new contract with At&T to own one):
Apple iPhone 4GB version: $499.00
AT&T voice 450 minutes/mos.: $1439.76
AT&T data: $480.00
Total w/2 year contract: $2418.76 plus tax

Tami’s picking up one today, and we’ll let you know if it’s worth it or not. Luckily, Kineda has the inside hookup for the Apple iPhone so we definitely won’t be waiting in those crowded lines for one!

    did your calculations include phone taxes? i hate those so much, averages about $10 for my $40 plan each month…

    I want one, but I’m not gonna camp outside for it. I’ll just wait til the buzz dies down and then I’ll stroll into the Apple store and pick one up. :)

    The iPhone looks PHAT.

    “Total w/2 year contract: $2418.76 plus tax” Not even in a million years. If it was a one time year payment, then I would reconsider taking that beast on.
