Apple Takes Advertising War Online

The Apple advertisements featuring Justin Long and John Hodgman as “Mac guy vs. PC guy” have become a cultural phenomenon. Now Apple’s creative ad team has come up with another winner for this holiday season.

They’ve purchased ad space on several large sites that feature PC guy having problems getting a “DON’T GIVE UP ON VISTA” sign to work properly. Pure genius!

Love these ads. That’s pretty slick how they were able to make them interactive online!

    Why the preference towards PC’s?

I guess the preference is towards PC’s cause, many people just go with the flow, and that PC’s have higher compatibility for softwares. Also the fact that PC’s are more easy to customize and such.

BUT, people really need to learn to use MAC, honestly, it’s great, Im using it in class and the only actually difference I find is.. the left and right mouse are switched, but everything else, is the same, or even better. Ever notice the Widgets toolbar at the bottom? Uh hu… Mac came out with it, and people try to get it on windows by using skins, yep, it was unique to MACs before it got copied. Another thing about MACs.. is if you look at their new computers, the tools and essentials are all included if you get the bundle, and it’s a lot cheaper than getting Adobe Photoshop(which can easily cost $200+).

The only reason why im still using a PC is because im waiting for university and I dont want to spend money on a new system this year, then Im planning to buy a macbook next year!

for me and my fren – the reason we use PC is mainly because of the games. if game developers turns side to Mac, PC (or windows) will die off easily…

i think MS has been bribing game developers all these while…

Let’s not forget Linux. Customization of UI, no virus problems and comes with all the software you need (FREE). Ubuntu.com is a great place to start. Dell is selling laptops with Ubuntu Linux preinstalled. No command line needed these days – it’s all click.

I’d pick a PC over Mac anytime. Ever since the Intel Core 2 Duo came out, Macs have always been second. Hardware-to-hardware the PCs are superior and costs less as well as more abundant and easier to upgrade. Game support for Macs is near non-existent and the hardware to play the games isn’t so good either.

    :D

    From Wikipedia:
“Despite his various roles as computer geeks, he (Justin Long) admitted to CraveOnline, “I’m very, very computer illiterate… I get the worst of both worlds; I look like a geeky hacker but I don’t know anything about computers.”"

    and

“While he plays the role of a PC in the campaign, Hodgman is actually a diehard Mac user: “I bought the very first Mac, or convinced my father to buy it, in 1984.” “
