April Fools

April 1st is just a couple days away. Are you ready? Here are some ideas for practical jokes at the office to play on your unsuspecting co-workers. What brilliant ideas have you seen or come up with?

  • Put foil over everything in their cube.
  • Take a screen shot of their desktop, then set it as their wall paper. Then hide all the icons.
  • Replace photos of friends and family with that of say Scott Baio, Eugene Levy, Drew Carey, William Shatner, or The New Kids on the Block.
  • Wall-paper someone’s entire cube with head shots of their co-workers.
  • Pull the shelves out of the break room refrigerator, hide inside and jump out at co-workers as they open the door.

The plastic wrap around the cubicle is a bit much but its one insane prank, gotta arrive at the office early and make sure no one spots you. :)

I did the 2nd one a few times with my friend Andy, any day of the year. It’s great when the wallpaper shows icons but they don’t work. While you’re at it, make their windows start bar on autohide and then scale it down so it is a thin line. It’s practically invisible, only a line pops up when they swing the cursor around.

    ^^^
I’d auto-hide the Start bar, and swing it upwards so the actual bar is on top of the screen ans the fake is on teh bottom. That way when they try to click on the fake one, teh real one won’t pop up. The perfect time to get them is when they go to lunch and hope their computer hasn’t automatically log off.

The still-the-best legendary prank that anyone can do on April Fools is to put a hidden “farter” or fart machine implanted in someone’s seat.

Another idea is to put lubricant in the chair as an alternative to the farter.

How about instead of putting a foil in someone’s workspace as seen above, someone or a group of people should put the foil in the boss’ car.

I did the snapshot of the background, hide the icons, this year to a coworker. Drove her nuts! Last year I plastic wrapped her hole cubicle, desk, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc…

For the rest of the office I flipped all the lcd monitors upside down (they are on arms attached to the desks) and I also flipped any post-its, papers attached to the monitor to the right side. Lets just say I heard a lot of WTFS, around the office!

If you want to be the looky-over-too-much Dennis the Menace, place a fake virus in a co-workers’ computer. Woops!
