Art of Shaving

I’ve had my fair share of shaving cuts over the years. Most of the time I used tissue to help stop the bleeding, but there’s a much better method.

Alum, a natural mineral found in Europe and used by the Egyptians more than 4,000 years ago, is a shaving essential for any well-groomed man. The Art of Shaving Alum Block’s antiseptic properties calm razor burn and soothe irritations, and help stop bleeding in the event of a nick or cut.

The Alum Block ($18) is great for all types of skin, and can even be used as an astringent for oily complexions. Definitely a plus for me, since I’m usually shining like a little piggy by noon time.

Minor cuts are taken care of in a few seconds, by moistening the stone with cold water and placing it over your cut for a few seconds until the bleeding stops.
