Nike Joins Michelle Obama’s LET’S MOVE Active Schools Initiative

NIKE, Inc. President & CEO Mark Parker will join First Lady Michelle Obama to make a major announcement to bring physical activity back to schools.

Studies show kids need at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day to
stay healthy, but they are spending an average of seven or more hours a
day in front of a screen, and only 1 in 3 kids are active daily. In addition to
the health benefits of an active lifestyle, research indicates that regular
physical activity can improve test scores, classroom behavior and
attendance. Yet, only 4% of elementary schools, 8% of middle schools and
2% of high schools currently offer daily P.E. and only 9 states require recess
in elementary schools.

Google Launches Chromebook Pixel Laptop

Google announced today its own Chrome OS-based laptop called the Chromebook Pixel. The Chromebook Pixel features a unibody design similar to Apple’s MacBook Pro. The 12.85-inch touchscreen with 3:2 aspect ratio features a whopping 2,560 x 1,700 pixel resolution at 239 pixels per inch (ppi). The laptop is made from anodized aluminum alloy and has a backlit keyboard and a touchpad etched from glass. The Chromebook Pixel is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and has a 32 gigabyte solid-state drive (64GB for the LTE model). Pricing starts at $1,299 and will begin shipping next week.
