2008 Search for Yoplait Champions

Save Lids to Save Lives

Do you have a family member who strives to make people understand the importance of early detection? If so, Yoplait® and Susan G. Komen for the Cure want to know about them. On September 19, both organizations announced the search for the 2008 Yoplait Champions, ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things in the fight against breast cancer. The search compliments Yoplait’s sustained commitment to the breast cancer cause through their signature Save Lids to Save Lives® program, and is a way to connect influencers to the breast cancer issue.

Every individual effort matters in this fight and select women and men across the country are proving to be true champions of the breast cancer cause in their communities. Nominees must have a strong commitment to the breast cancer cause and have made an impact on others’ lives or the community. Nominations are open between now and November 6, 2007 at www.yoplait.com.

“We want to bring together women and men who are helping others get through breast cancer through their actions and kindness,” said Camille Gibson, Vice President of Yoplait. “It is an honor to connect these intelligent and persevering minds, to help them exchange ideas and increase their potential to assist others. We hope the Champions’ stories will inspire women and men across the country to take action.”

The Story Behind Free People

Free People

I’m going to tell you a little story about a favorite brand of mine called Free People. You may have heard of Urban Outfitters, but did you realize that Urban Outfitters was originally named Free People?

Back in the 1970′s, a young man named Dick Hayne planted a seed in the maze of streets and trees that make up West Philadelphia Pennsylvania, he opened a store and called it Free People. Free People nurtured the young people who lived there and shopped there, who looked for a little of their own freedom in the clothes they wore.

As Dick’s store grew from one to two the name was changed from Free People to Urban Outfitters. In time, his wife Meg came on to tend Urbans private label division. In 2001, they decided to bring back the Free People label as a more mature, contemporary brand. This allowed twenty-something women to appreciate the line of clothing that catered to their intelligence, creativity and individuality.

In their own words:
“And that’s just who we wanted to reach, a 26-year-old girl, smart, creative, confident and comfortable in all aspects of her being, free and adventurous, sweet to tough to tomboy to romantic. A girl who likes to keep busy and push life to its limits, with traveling and hanging out and everything in between.”

Hilary Duff

Hilary’s shapely transformation has been a hot topic of the tabloids lately, and it’s no wonder why. Her sleek butt, flat abs, and trim thighs are the envy of many women trying to get fit.

To get this slamming body, Hilary worked with V Pilates owner Viveca Jensen for almost two years. Along with a balanced diet, Hilary’s workout regimen included leg raises with a band, bridge with the ring, and leg raises with a ball.

Hilary Duff

These three moves helped to firm her butt, outer thighs, and lower abs. Jensen has videos on Shape.com that demonstrates how to do each of these exercises and more!

Apple iPhone Activated and Working

iPhone Activated
Yes!!! Finally, after being on the phone since Friday night with AT&T Customer Care, their activation department, and Apple Tech Support trying to get my phone activated… my Apple iPhone finally works!

If there ever was a test of patience, it was trying to get my iPhone activated. I kid you not when I tell you I was on hold for a total of over 20 hours and talked to over 30 agents. I swore I’d return this darn thing, if it wasn’t activated by today, but luckily it finally is.

Now that I can get past the activation screen, I can tell you wholeheartedly that it’s the most amazing phone on this planet. Apple has reinvented one of our most simple communication tools – the telephone. Samsung, Motorola and Nokia are going to need a miracle to come up with a phone that can be as killer as this one.

Your Activation Requires Additional Time to Complete

Activation Apple iPhone

I got my hands on the infamous Apple iPhone, but it hasn’t been a great experience so far. Luckily, I didn’t have to stand in any lines to get it or I would have shot myself!

Let me start by saying the activation process of this phone has been a royal pain in the butt. After purchasing the phone and trying to activate it through iTunes, I get a message near the end saying that it’ll take three minutes to process my registration:

Please wait while AT&T is processing your activation. This may take up to 3 minutes.

Three minutes pass and nothing. Finally after 30 minutes of waiting, I get another message that tells me I’ll get an email notification when its activated:

Your activation requires additional time to complete. You will receive an e-mail confirmation to tami@xxxxxx.com once your activation is complete.

Six hours later, my iPhone is still not activated! Maybe, my issue is a bit more complicated, being that I was on an AT&T “blue” account and having to migrate to a newer Cingular “orange” account, but it still shouldn’t be this difficult! I can’t be the only one in this situation right? I’ve been on the phone all night with AT&T (with countless reps), and it seems that I’ll have to wait until the morning for the AT&T migration team to help me further.

Ugh! All this for the infamous Apple iPhone! I can’t even tell you what the phone is like because it isn’t activated yet! NOT cool….

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow…..til then good night!

P.S. I hope you guys have a better experience than I did with this damn thing ;)

*Update – Saturday, June 30th – 8am*
It’s now the next morning, and still no darn activation e-mail. I’ve been on phone with customer care, as well as Apple. and no one seems to know what’s wrong. ARGH!

It looks like I’m not the only one plagued with this issue:

Lunch like Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez Lunch

Even actresses brown-bag it. Jennifer Lopez, the most influential Hispanic entertainer in America, brings meals to the recording studio, while completing her fifth English studio album.

Her enchilada recipe: Combine 4 oz cooked shredded chicken breast, 1/4 light sour cream, 2 tbsp shredded lowfat Chipotle cheese, 1/4 cup pico de gallo, and 1/8 cup enchilada sauce in a bowl. Place the mixture on a whole-wheat tortilla. Roll up and put in a microwave-safe portable dish.

Pour 1/8 cup enchilada sauce on top and sprinkle with a bit more cheese to your liking. At lunchtime, microwave on high for 3 minutes.

One of J.Lo’s enchiladas has 10 grams of fiber and a mere 200 calories.
