It’s not often that I listen to J-pop music anymore, but when I do, it’s of the Ayumi Hamasaki variety. Today, I set out to find a new J-pop artist and discovered a singer worth burning to my iPod. Her name is Aya Kamiki, and I wouldn’t categorize her as your typical J-pop idol.
Although she has that amazingly cute idol look, her sound leans more towards rock than bubbly pop. I’m really digging her voice and style, and I think you will too.
Check out Aya Kamiki’s music videos below and let me know your thoughts.
Not really into Japanese music but I like the song in the 2nd video. What’s the name of it?
not bad, but i like ayaka and angela aki more
She sounds great, but too bad I don’t understand a word of Japanese. :p
helllllooo beautiful
Pierrot is the name of the song in the 2nd vid. ;)
you BURN your music into your ipod? BURN? O_o
I liked the second MV better than the first, but the first showed off her sexy legs for a couple of seconds. As for the music itself, i liked the second better, it tune was very enjoyable.
Haven’t heard Jrock in a long while, preferably listening to MOVE. I like the first video than the second one. :)
wow she really hot looking.
I always thought Aya Kamiki was gorgeous with a funky style, similar to Avril Lavigne’s but I didn’t find her music exceptional. Listening to it again, here, it kind of grew on me I suppose. It’s not bad.
I don’t know, there are plenty of people like her all over the place.. you’re right though she sort of has an Avril feel to her style and music. But I think Aya Kamiki’s a tadddd better =P

Aya Kamiki is my current favorite japanese singer, bar none. Whether you call her punk, rock, JPop, or whatever, she has it all. Name one singer that’s that drop-dead gorgeous that can write songs, play guitar and sing with the best of them. Hitomi Yaida comes close but she’s not the looker that Aya is. Check out the videos for Communication Break and Crazy. You ARE missing a lot if you don’t understand Japanese, but if you don’t want to learn try Bonnie Pink – she sings some songs all in English!
