With a site like this, Judging wether or not someone is hot, I’m bound to find quite a large sum of vain people on the site. But honestly, I wouldn’t waste time clicking Next, or Hot or what ever, cause there’s really no point. Probably the only priviledge of winning is… Bragging RIGHTS. “Im Hot, i was on MTV’s NEXTorNot” and nothing else, and as Jbkmo said, its not pratical for a resume or something that would help you find a joy, it’s purely bragging rights for the vain!

Compared to youtube, this site might produce similar talents from its users. Like how Justin Timberlake disovered Esmee Denters on youtube, I can perhaps see agencies looking for their next top model and what a great way to get your publicity through MTV. You never know when opportunity might be knocking on your door.

Oh, I get it, stumble upon humans, not upon websites. Interesting concept albeit not original to MTV. As usual, under-age teen look-at-me’s will flock to the site and be devastated when no one picks them — just like at school! But seriously, if this is the kind of activity that floats someone’s boat, I say, go for it. The web really does offer something for everyone these days… MTV will do anything for clicks because clicks mean ad dollars. This is an advertising ploy, of course, and maybe it will cause the ad dollars to flow like the Nile for MTV.

Sorry jules, don’t mean to be an ass but it’s “addictive.” I should’ve written that on the pet peeves forum thread. Addicting is an active verb, and thus can’t be used interchangeably with addictive. Ie. Cocaine is addictive vs. He’s going start addicting himself to cocaine.

Moving on, I think this is just another ploy to get hits. First it was hotornot, then the advent of nexopia and other rateme.com type things…this one just involves MTV. Although I can imagine a lot of creeping going on…and at least this has a large viewing audience (imagine being able to say you were featured on MTV for being the hottest person rated on a website). Even though it’s a sweet waste of time, where is this supposed to get you in life? Add this to your resume if you win and see if you get hired!

To prevent any legal issues, they should create an age limit, 18 and above. It’s totally great to gain exposure at an early age but an idea like NextorNot showing a 15 year old with makeup isn’t ethical. For all reasons, it’s just there to protect the younger user.

Ok, this is pretty addicting but I keep hitting next quite a bit. :p
