Being a Great Speller Won’t Get You Laid

Meet Evan O’Dorney, winner of America’s Spelling Bee. I have to give props to the parents for doing such a great job with his home schooled education, but the poor kid lacks any kind of social skills.

Interviewer: “What did your mom say when you won?”
Evan O’Dorney: “Well.. hrmph… I don’t know what my mom said. You better ask my mom, if you want the answer to that question.”

My advice to the parents – forget the home schooling, and drop him off at public school please. Being a great speller isn’t going to take him very far, if he doesn’t learn how to interact with other humans!

    it was a bit wierd watching this video because on the one hand I was laughing my butt off… but on the other I feel really bad for him.

    The newscaster was sweatin trying to hold that interview together. hahahh

    Take a chance to put down the dictionary and get some fresh air, see what the world is like. Not everything needs to be respelled.

    yea she’s pretty hot, i actually feel more sorry for her during that interview than i did the boy. man, that boy needs a serious social overhaul.

    Hahahah, Terry’s title for the article is mean hahhah, but to be honest, I only think he knows how to spell stuff, BUT hedoesnt know much about interacting with other people.. really sad.. on the other hand, extremely funny yet awkward video. He’s so the next “40 year old virgin”

    To be fair it’s not just a result of homeschooling. There are plenty of people like this in public schools and plenty of people which are considered more socially normal who were home schooled. I wouldn’t be surprised if his parents opted to home school him _because_ he was socially awkward.

    yes.. it wouldn’y get you laid, but it INCReASES your chance of geting laid. In other words, you’re actually creating a larger opportunities as well. If he does that.. oh my… can he get a ladies attection spelling out all the words that girl can think of!.. err?… not much point in that huh?
