Body Armor for the Invincible Snowboarder or Skier

POC

If you’re a hardcore snowboarder or skier that’s into cliff jumping and other tricks, you might want to look into the body armor created at POC labs. They’ve worked with a number of back specialists to design accessories that assure the protection of your spine and body.

POC

POC bases their body armor designs on the beetle. POC is heavily into biometrics and with over 350,000 known species, they believe the beetle is most strikingly successful.

“It’s hard but flexible external skeleton provides armored protection for vital organs while allowing free movement.”

Sounds like solid body protection with good looks to match!

I wonder how well the spine protection works. That part seems the hardest to fit each individual body.

I do like the shoulder pads and goggles they have though.

Talk about body protection! I’m gonna give this a shot.

I hate the mesh net thing, but I like the concept though. I guess I will try that before I head to Aspen.

It looks like you able to wear it while riding a sport bike.

that thing must cost a fortune. I know one guy would have made good use of that, “before” he injured his spleen off a jump. Still, really good guys won’t want to use it because they are “really good” and this thing would deflate their ego too :).
… I think only really really extreme backcountry types who do extreme skiing/boarding would use this. Which would be a small fraction of the population I would imagine.

I bought a rockgarden flack jacket once and I love the idea of it. It takes some of the pain out of crashing. Like taking a hit while wearing football pads. Im landing 1260′s and double rodeos now. Without body armor…i’d be hurten. The only problem is that the shoulders make me look like a line backer. I put my jacket over it and I look like frankenstein. are their any that other body armors suites that offer good protection without the big shoulders?

The only problem with this and most products of this type is that they fail to provide protection to the back rib cage and underneath your arm. I found out first hand how my body armor failed to protect these key areas. I am currently recovering from 5 broken ribs from a snowboarding accident. If I didn’t have on my helmet and body armor I probably wouldn’t be typing this right now.

Ca it be made to be bulletproof? That’d be pretty sweet.
