Agreed.... lenses are more valuable since the optical quality gives pretty much most of the saturation, colors, sharpness and quality to an image. The body does the processing job and make it more convenience for the users to handle their shots. I did have some old lenses that were good. Some of the new lenses also beat their predecessor as well. Something like Canon 85mm f1.2L USM II. That one is definitely better than the old mark I version. That's one lens to die for after seeing its dof. Lens prices are going up like its on a major demand. So grab your next dream lens from the store or else... it will goes up by several hundred dollars. 5DmarkII is a dream body up to date... I love it... still love my good old buddy 30D as well though. =]

I have to agree with david, photography is an expensive hobby, but you may label a camera "obsolete" but that word can never apply to your images. I also have to specify that lenses do not get obsolete, and frankly, I found some old lenses are better built, and gives better quality than the "present" lenses, all in all, Im just glad the new 5D is out.

Cameras are such an expensive hobby. Whether you doing it for a living, your camera gets obsolete every so often, like always. Buying the lenses in itself is like buying another camera. This 5D is on steroids.

I'm a Canon user, so the new 5D has me drooling, but for now (until the wallet gets an upgrade) I'm going to have to be happy with my XTi.

My friend just msged me about the 5d MK II like 2 hours ago. It's the long expected upgrade that Canon users have been craving and now that it's out, Canon users should celebrate. The new 5D is BADASS, looks like Canon just made their biggest release this year.

Im personally a nikon user, so for me, I'd make my next upgrade to D700, since switching to canon would render my set of nikon lenses useless.
