I feel bad for Erica Sawajiri. This entire week, the Japanese news outlets have been giving her an incredibly hard time for her poor manners at the “Closed Note” movie premier in which she starred in. Her apparent lack of enthusiasm at the opening has earned her the title of “Japanese Paris Hilton.”
Is all this hate really necessary? The poor girl is 21-years-old and learning to cope with balancing her personal life and stardom. Give her a darn break. In the above video, she’s crying the entire time while apologizing to her fans, and hopes that her future works will continue to make them happy.

I was wondering what she was saying; her face was all over Youtube. I’d like to know what she actually said too!

I have been a fan of Erika Sawajiri ever since I fell in love with her drama, 1 Litre of Tears. I was completely touched and was so happy to see her come out with a music album recently. It’s so sad to see her cry like that >.

I heard about this controversy as well, but she’s far from becoming a Paris Hilton. People are just giving her a rough time and obviously she’s real apologetic. I saw her in the movie “Sugar and Spice” and have been a fan ever since!

At first glance, i thought Terry brought back angel of the week. Then I realized it was Erika Sawajiri in an interview. It was a bit surprised by the way she reacted during the interview. She looked like she was thinking for a long time to answer the question, but she couldn’t come up with an answer and started to cry. If only the video had translations, but, its always heartbreaking to see a cute face cry.

Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure how anyone can be on such poor behaviour to warrant the label of anything Paris Hilton related. I’m not familiar with her current story, but the interpretation of anyone’s motives can be misconstrued by the media so easily, and those that don’t take a look at the matter from other perspectives catch only a glimpse of the story and can so easily reach an inconclusive bias.
This interview just shows us that stars are human too; she clearly seems sincere in her distress. Emotion is a universal phenomenon not simply relegated to us of the rather mundane life. We’re so accustomed to seeing those in fame in picture-perfect shots in covergirl magazine spreads, which is why her crying in the video is really alien to me.

Wow, talk about absolute disinterest. I just watched the video paddyspoint alluded to, and that was definitely an awkward & largely difficult interview there. Even though my previous schema is considerably altered by that clip, I have to rest my conclusion on my earlier comment - we have no view into her life, and it’s difficult to make a decision (without actually being her) as to whether she didn’t want to be there in the first place, or perhaps her dog died or something and her mind was elsewhere?
It’s tough to say, but again the public tends to cling onto what the media advertises. I’d say Erika (and her agent) have lots to do in terms of PR for the next while, and she had likely be on her best behaviour from now on; this may likely just be a dent in her career but by no means an ending.

The video doesn’t work anymore and I can’t find any others of it on Youtube. Anyone have a working link to it?
