Kokoro, a Sanrio Group company specializing in the design and manufacture of robots, unveiled its new Actroid DER2 Hello Kitty loving robot. It’s not the first time the Japanese have released a robot to do the work of humans. In this case, Actroid DER2 is a greetings and expo show robot that can be rented for 400,000 yen (US$3,500).
Does anyone else think this robot is freakishly scary looking? Someone get her a hairstylist and plastic surgeon. I think I’ll save my $3500 and rent a real flesh and blood model.
Just in time for halloween!
She’s definitely an upgrade from the other robot that does work for humans, but a little makeover could help.
The more realisitc these model becomes, the more freakier it gets haha. – Didn’t know that Sanrio was specializing in robots. Guess those cute little guys don’t work anymore.
^ agreed. we can just pay a girl 50 bucks and she’ll rant about how kawaii hello kitty products are. it’s cost effective and it helps the economy by creating jobs! ^^
Wow… before I saw the bigger pics, I thought that it was a real woman.
I thought it was real too!

i thought that was real human that will promote the new robot, didn’t know that was the new robot itself. Only matter of time before they replace us. You can’t even tell them apart from an human, shit.
What about a woman with blond hair?
It’s getting way to real for me.
This is cool. But for the same price, couldn’t you just hire a real person to greet people?
[...] Although the Japanese are a couple years ahead in the making of humanoid robots, the Chinese aren’t far behind. The robot featured here can sing and move her lips, but doesn’t have the ability to move her limbs yet. However, she is far less scary looking than Japan’s Hello Kitty Actroid Robot. [...]
Look closely, obviously, she’s not real, becoz of her skin tone and inhuman smile.
