So you have the hots for your best friend’s girl? Think the feeling might be mutual? Better tread carefully here. Many friendships have been lost over this, and if you want to remain friends with your best bud, you should step back and allow their relationship to run it’s course. Keep your hands and thoughts to yourself.
If the two of them really weren’t meant to be, he’ll at least feel like he had his shot. Be sure not to jump in right away, as you’ll look like one shady bastard if you do. Allow some time for him to get over her, or maybe even find a new girl before moving in.
If they don’t break up, remember there’s plenty of women out there, but you only have one best friend.
Word to the Wise: Don’t let me catch you on an episode of Cheaters!

I kinda made out with a girl my friend tried to hook up with for a while, but she shot him down. All while the three of us was in the same room at a party. Not sure if he noticed or not. I haven’t mentioned it to him. I did feel guilty about it afterwards and didn’t hook up with her. I guess thats ok, right?

Kase - Since they weren’t together, it’s fine. I’m sure his ego was a bit hurt but you did nothing wrong. Just be sure not to rub it in his face that you were able to get with her and he wasn’t. :)

Yeah bros before hos… but it only works initially, in the end, almost any guy will go after what he wants regardless. A guy who says he won’t probably isn’t that interested in the girl or doesn’t think he has a chance otherwise. I only know of 1 or 2 guys I know who would follow the bros before hos mantra :P.

it’s about having some respect. would you like it if you’re best friend hit on your girl? I wouldn’t.

“There’s plenty of women out there, but you only have one best friend” Very true, that statement is true, always treasure your friendships instead of wrecking them over a girl.

no girl should ever come between u and your best friend and besides women out-number men in this world…
if me and my friend are both attracted to the same girl, i will bow out and let him attempt “contact”

I’d say there’s plenty of more woman then your best friend’s girl. Traveling around might just find someone you might like. Never happened to me though.

Be a warrior. Many fishes in the sea, FYI. Don’t give up the war.
PS. If you have to choose between power and girl, I say, power before girl, heck you might become the BOSS.

“it’s about having some respect. would you like it if you’re best friend hit on your girl? I wouldn’t.”

I don’t see anything in this article regarding the usual golden rule. Just the fact that they were even “together,” I would think, means you back away period? What’s up with staying around and seeing if they’ll break up? What a waste of time. Besides, I see friends of my boyfriend eye me continually and that’s an automatic *irk* by me. I lose respect for them automatically just from the fact they were eying me. No way…

I’d definitely recommend backing away, but if the feeling is mutual (hence the 2nd question in the article: Think the feeling might be mutual?) then it’s wise to following the recommendations I made above. ;)
