Is Vitamin Water Better Than Regular Water?

Vitamin Water

Vitamin waters have been all the rage the past couple of years, but if it’s vitamins that you’re looking for, you might look elsewhere. An average bottle of vitamin water is packed with over 100 calories, and loaded with serious amounts of sugar for flavoring. It’s almost as bad as drinking soda, and surely won’t help you on your mission to keep fit.

To get your vitamin punch, drink regular water which has zero calories and down a multivitamin like Centrum instead. You’ll stay hydrated, and get the nutritional boost you’re looking for without the added calories.

yeah, it’s too tasty to be healthy for me, especially if i’m sitting at a desk all day!

Hmmm, never seen vitamin water in canada before, but water is healthy cause it has no colories!! and keeps you staying hydrated during sports events and such

Kinda reminds me of Gatorade, I can say water is still the healthiest drink around, especially when you’re doing anything thats physical.

Vitamin water isn’t as bad as Gatorade. I don’t think it’s loaded with as much sugars and it does have some vitamins in it at least.

i know its not the healthiest thing in the world, but i love my vitamin water! the stuff is great! my desk is stocked with the stuff. since i know there is a lot of sugar in it, i hold my self off to one a day at work. I think i make up for it by drinking a minimium of 4 water bottles of water as well!

TIP: stuff is great to prevent a hangover as well–after a long night of drinking, drink a bottle before you sleep or during your midnight unrination and you are good to go when you wake up in the morning…

if what achow^ says is true i could have used a bottle last night before i went to bed.

Regular water has zero calories, yes, but it doesn’t provide any energy – hence why professional and amateur athletes choose it.

Sugar has a role, Gatorade and Vitamin Water is tons better during a workout, during sports events, during runs, you need the simple carbs that sugar are to help fuel your workout. It has a huge benefit.

However that’s the only time the stuff should be touched, during or around workout.

“hence why professional and amateur athletes choose it.”

Choose it, as in Vitamin Water and Gatorade, thought I would clear that up, I didn’t make much sense.

whoever wrote this article must be ignorant to the product. not in a bad way they must just misunderstand it. the sugar in vitamin water is a crystaline fructose, which is a natural fruit sugar, its the same thing you would find in an apple or an orange. in fact in an 8oz. glass of fresh squeezed orange juice there is 22 grams of crystaline fructose and in vitamin water there are only 13. plus it has 3 electrolytess in it, magnesium potassium and calcium. they dont use sodium like all the other sports beverages. i drink 4-5 a day and im in the best shape of my life. professional athletes would not endorse it and drink it themselves if it were not better then regular water.

Gatorade will quench your thirst. Coca Cola will perfect your day. Bottled water will hydrate your senses. So, Vitamin Water will probably have an effect= which is Placebo.

  • toolittletoolate

You should try Aquafina Alive instead. It has only 10 calories per serving – 25 in an entire bottle. MUCH better than that other stuff. It has a bit of real juice in it and tastes pretty good!

look like this is trying to get parents to buy healthy drink for there kids, but is actually more harm than good

  • twilightbird

That statement is wrong. Vitamin Water ,first off, is not to help you lose weight. It is designed replace lost vitamins in your body. Another thing is that Vitamin water has sugar but the sugar isn’t the high fructose corn syurp. High fructose corn syurp is what is in Gatorade. Calories are not bad. Our brain needs calories to fuction. Too many are but vitamin water only has 50 calories per serving. Also it has less sugar than pop. Each vitamin water is designed for a specific purpose.

you guys have no idea what you are talkiing about. vitamin water is good for you. its not supposed to make you lose weight, its to get VITAMINS! note the name VITAMIN water!!!! you people are fucking stupid as hell. who really cares what you look like!? if you care so much about how much you weigh then you are not living life.

    vitamin…

Hello. Great post! I agree 100%!…

  • Drummer Gurl

I guess I’m a little late with my comment but….
A 12oz can of Coca Cola has 140 calories & 39g of high fructose corn syrup vs. 10oz of Essential Orange Vitamin Water has 50 calories and 13g of crystalline fructose. Personally just plain water gets awfully boring especially since we have to drink so much each day to stay hydrated. Adding a Vitamin Water (or your choice of drink) isn’t such a BAD thing. As a side note about pill form mulivitamins: very often they do not dissolve & the body doesn’t absorb them. So you’ve wasted your time & money!

Wow, i’ve been drinking nothing, but Vitamin water. I eat healthy and my sugar levels are very normal. Kinda sucks hearing all this negativity, but i’m assuming this all pertains to Obese people who already have a problem with this issue.

I’m sure if I were stuffing my face with cake, ice cream and candy bars, there would be something to talk about.

I heard that Vitamin Water still has a lot of sweeteners in it even though they advertise that they have less than Propel.

A friend of mine introduced me to these Twist Tubes that have about 25% of the sweetener that a Vitamin Water does. They can be added to 16oz of water. And they taste great.

    Check them out at http://dblumenthal1.qhealthbeauty.com/search/default.aspx?Ntt=twist%20tube

    Hope this helps.

I’ve been drinking vitamin Water and working out and I’ve lost 20 pounds in a 4 week period. I’m a 56 year old woman, originally weighing in at 264 and now weighing it at 243. It helps me when I feel depleted after exercising. It has been working for me. Sorry, to hear others with such negative comments.

glad to hear your workout routine and probably other dietary changes are working for you but vitamin water is not a health drink whatsoever, facts are facts and the nutrition label doesn’t lie
