As everyone in the forums had predicted, Kayne West’s “Graduation” album outsold 50 Cent’s “Curtis” in first week sales, according to an official report by Billboard.
Some interesting tidbits from the Billboard article:
The total for West’s “Graduation” is the largest by any album since 50 Cent’s “The Massacre” opened with 1.1 million copies in March 2005…”Graduation” also rings up the largest week yet by a digital album download, starting with 133,000, beating the prior record of 102,000, set earlier this year by Maroon 5’s “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.”
Fiddy promised that he wouldn’t make any more solo albums if he lost to Kayne. It’ll be interesting to see how he’ll keep that promise, especially since he’s on contract with Interscope to release at least one more album.
Regardless of who won though, this “battle” was a brilliant marketing tool by both to sell more copies of their albums. Judging by the record breaking numbers, it definitely lined their necks and wrists with yet more bling.
As predicted, Kanyne won, and i guess the “battle” is a success for both regardless of the victor. The sad thing is, I have yet to hear anything from both albums yet, better get my hands on copies of each.

I definitely recommend Kayne’s album, it has great beats and does collaboration with the best in the business. I heard both albums and 50 Cent doesn’t quite cut it. – Some of the songs are recycled and the lyrics are about gangs, sex, and guns, what are you suppose to expect?
There’s a video called Classic by Rakim, Nas, KRS One and Kanye West. If you like more of the hip-hop music. Even though its an old video (5 months), it has uplifting lyrics about the hip-hop scene and the air force one shoe. Check it out, you won’t regret it.
Any everyone always calls Kayne the cocky one. Guess Fiddy being cocky this time didn’t come out so well in the end. :)
Ya I knew Kanye had the upperhand. Besides the head to head publicity stunt with Fiddy, Kanye also went onto the Emmy’s and had a parody skit with Wayne Brady and Rainn Wilson (from ‘The Office’) battling over his own lyrics. In the end Rainn won but the true winner is Kanye of course who got to showcase his talent and promote his album.

Well we just have to wait and see. It is still too early to tally in the votes, especially since they have not released world wide. i believe that Africa and Europe will take 50, especially since Kayne is not that big there. Asia though is questionable, Kayne may have it over there especially since hes been so much shopping over there. But well see.
The bet was for the first week of sales, so it doesn’t really matter how he’s going to do in other countries.
I thought I read somewhere that 50 retracted that statement *dunno*
yay! they had an interview with jay z here on a local new york radio station and he said that kanye’s ego is through the roof but it’s alright, he’ll allow it for a week at least haha. kanyes album is definitely great – i really recommend it!
