I came across this video on YouTube and was reminded how much I like this girl. Leona Lewis, winner of the Xfactor show, is truly an amazing singer. For those of you that don’t know, XFactor is UK’s version of American Idol.
Leona Lewis, 21, grew up in North London and has been singing since she could talk.
Leona has always loved the soulful and r&b melodies of Minnie Ripperton, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Oleta Adams, and Eva Cassidy which have influenced her tasteful tunes.
She is absolutely fantastic, isn’t she? Not to mention, I think she can out sing alot of the artists we have here in the States! Leona Lewis and American Idol’s runner up, Katharine McPhee are definitely my favorite!
She’s a total winner and I can’t WAIT to buy her CD! Enjoy the video.

leona Performed live last night in Newcastle…and OH MY GOD, if you think she’s good here you should hear the progress she’s made in only 2 months since winning…she sounded SPECTACULAR.
She sang Over The Rainbow which is one of the songs she sang at Clive Davis’ showcase in L.A on Weds the 7th. and DAMN! is all I have to say.

She’s great, but it’d be hard to say she’s better than Whitney. Whitney’s a legend.
She’s just another Whitney. I’d like to hear her sing a different song that she could make her own. She’s definitely got talent though I believe she needs to darken her hair colour.

LOL. Pop Idol is/was a TV show in the UK. The producers took it over to America and when they do it in America they call it American Idol. X-Factor is a completely different show.
Also….WAAAAAH!? I stopped watching X-Factor because those shows were kind of boring me and I totally didn’t know that she won. Good on her, she was definitely one of the best.

having been a fan of McPhee, I have to say Leona is in a completely different league. She is a hybrid between Whitney and Marriah. she may not be completely there yet, but think if she can deliver such mesmorising performances LIVE at 21 what she’ll be like in a year’s time or so. whitney and marriah (and even Celine) grew to their niches and to what they became and it took time.
BUT more importantly, is she or is she not going to appear as a guest performaer in American Idol, can anyone help pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?
