By now, I’m sure you’ve heard of the first film collaboration between martial arts superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li. If not, here’s the latest trailer for The Forbidden Kingdom.
The film co-stars include Li Bingbing who plays a white haired assasin and Liu Yifei who plays an orphan warrior.

The movie hits theaters April 18th.

wow, this looks amazing!
This Movie has so may paramounts, the long awaited collabo of two of the greatest action actors to never have their careers collide.,and a mix of western and eastern elements mixed into an eastern oriented film instead of the other way around -the list of cheesy Asian dramas and movies trying to depict western life is too long to count. And it looks like Jackie Chan tuned his comedy down to just the right level moving away from the border line annoying characters he plays in Western movies. The effects look good too. It looks like this movie has all the elements to be the film of the year.

Li Bingbing has such attractive eyes and it kinda sucks thats she has to be on the evil side. Any movie with Jackie Chan will mean there will be some humor of sorts involved for sure. I’ve seen this trailer a long time ago and i know that it’ll likely be very popular since it takes place in ancient china. But having this setting is also places this movie in a harder situation to be very successful, since many asian movies that take place in this time have similar storyboards. I’ll put this movie on my to watch list and hope that it’ll be worth the money!

I just saw the trailer yesterday. What more than having jackie chan and jet li together? Is Zhang Ziyi in the movie?

As fun and epic this movie may end up becoming, I feel like the Li-Chan crossover would be that much more incredible had the entire production been handled entirely by a Chinese staff. Both Jackie and Jet Li’s roles and performances in US films have been rather lackluster compared to their previous Chinese hits.
Jet Li’s portrayal of Wong Fei Hung in Once Upon a Time in China, Fist of Legend, and even more recently Fearless completely blows away Lethal Weapon 4, Kiss of the Dragon, and Romeo Must Die. Likewise for Jackie Chan’s Drunken Master 2, Rumble in the Bronx, and Police Story series vs the Rush Hour franchise.
Granted that they were younger when many of these hits were filmed but in general, the production value was placed more on the fighting choreography/camera direction and less on the story/special effects, which is usually up to the director’s discretion.
Luckily, Yuen Wo Ping is handling the choreography, but even then, I feel like this is a missed opportunity for something greater. Imagine throwing in Tony Jaa into the mix too. One can dream!

Totally agree “vgachi57″… Jet Li’s and Jackie Chans 1st film together will probably be a “good” film, but could have been a “great” film.
I remember reading somewhere, it might have been here actually, that Jackie Chan said when he started to fight with Jet during training, it reminded him of fighting with Yuen Biao and Sammo Hung during the old days… now thats something to look forward to in the fight scenes!!! -

sadly if your a fan of of the oldschool hk flicks these two produced (jackie chan and jet li) you might be disappointed. jackie chan has said this movie was produced for an american crowd, and that it most likely won’t be a hit in china :(

I have to say, that I could not agree with you in 100%, but it’s just my opinion, which could be wrong….
