Not all party promoters do well :P, some are party poopers. When I was working at this graphic design business, met a friend who did party promotion for one of the biggest clubs in Toronto. Doesn’t seem of a bad side job when you’re working full time. :)

In my own personal opinion, I believe it’s a perfect idea to end the stresses of work. Promoting the organized party is a big feat for those early party starters who haven’t tried doing it. Even though the venue can be free (possibly or maybe free), they’re still other factors that needs to consider. One is that the problem is that the party organizer has no way of organizing the plan or whatsoever, he (definitely) has no knowledge or/and enough skills how to organize a party. Secondly, he should have a secondary plan if first plan – the venue wasn’t free at all – failed. Third, he must have a cash in his hand in order to solve JIC (Just In Case) or unseen problems. Yeah, I agree that women CAN DO a better job than men when doing party promotions. I guess, women have that Woah factor (charisma, prettiness, the body, etc.) especially for those women who has the hoohas and the sex appeal, heck you see nice women in club posters, they’re like models. Overall, I love the plan but plan it carefully. If you make a mistake in your plan of attack then possibilities are that the party will not go on. Furthermore, whatever happens, be optimistic for parties and the rest will be ok.

Dj Mikey – Very true about paying for quality djs. There are tons of DJs in the bay area, not all of them good. I have found in my experience, the ones that keep the party jumpin are the ones you have to pay a pretty penny for. I think its very well worth it :D

Thanks about the comment on using a good DJ. I get party promoters asking me all the time to DJ for their party, and they expect things cheap. If you want quality, you really need to pay for it.

Those that have been in the industry for years realize the time and effort it really takes refine and hone DJing skills.

I think the girls can be even better party promoters than guys. Parties in general tend to be dominated by guys, and the girl promoters we had helping really helped mix things up.

Another thing to try is if you’re a girl and have a lot of single friends, is speed dating events. These things are hugely popular and require even less work than throwing a party. :)

There’s got to be a female equivalent for promoting parties, making a couple grand each party, and meeting hot guys. (And being Heidi Fleiss wouldn’t be it.) For women I guess the equivalent is throwing one of those fundraiser semi-formal things – lots of beautiful people in cleaned-up attire, the ticket price has weeded out the losers, and no one really ever remembers what the charity is.
