Michelle Monique Reis was born on June 20, 1970 in Macau. Michelle Reis won the 1988 Miss Hong Kong Pageant when she was 18. Her father was a Portuguese, and her mother Chinese. She was also the first Miss Chinese International, also hosted by TVB, the host of Miss Hong Kong. During her reign, she participated in the Miss World pageant, where she promoted the image of Hong Kong.
However, she created controversy when she withdrew from the Miss Universe pageant due to “personal reasons”. She has built a career within the entertainment industry, going from commercials to the big screen and music clips and episodes in TVB with rising stars such as Leon Lai during the early 90’s. Michelle Reis’s early stage image is one of angelicism and purity, but she has gone on to more challenging, like in Fallen Angels and Flowers of Shanghai.
