The Miss Universe 2006 Pageant results are in… Miss Japan was crowned 1st place runner-up behind MIss Universe 2006: Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico (I swear she looks like she’s a Victoria’s Secret Model)! Amazing indeed, considering there were over 4,000 contestants this year. Standing at a sultry 5’7″, Kurara Chibana (23) was born in Okinawa, and majored in Philosophy at Sophia University.

    What is nice to see, as a westerner with preconcieved notions of what Asian men find desirable in women, is that your Miss Japan is so obviously intelligent. Asian beauties often have a simple-minded look in their eyes, a childlike sort of innocince or passivity . It’s a matter of cultural tastes as well as personal preference. I prefer smart women, personally, and it seems that I am not alone. A stunning woman.

    Yeah, I agree that Ms Japan is stunning and intelligent. She most likely is a Catholic since Sophia University is a Jesuit school. Her answer regarding to the tough question “How would u change history” is feminist, but resoundingly true. She’s an independent woman not afraid to voice criticism against cultural stereotypes of women.

    Im so proud of her! Japan hasn’t had a Ms Universe since the 1950′s (yup, so close to victory, but getting there)… Im sure she has a bright career ahead of her. Way to go!

    About Ms. Japan, yup she’s smart. I think she answered questions in much better quality than others. 4 languages? doh .. I can’s even spell right some times.
