Pepper Pad

At 2.1-pounds, the Pepper Pad 3 ($700) is another reason to never leave the couch. The Pepper Pad is a Wi-Fi-enabled device, with a large, high-resolution screen, 20-gigabyte hard disk, built-in speakers and a thumb keypad, providing a powerful, versatile platform for a much wide range of online and offline activities. The 7″ LCD touch screen allows you to view full-width Web pages and watch full-screen videos. It’s rugged and splash-resistant for use around the house or on the go, and its infrared and UPnP capabilities allow consumers to control and access any number of PCs, TVs, set-top boxes, CD players, and other A/V devices.

The Pepper Pad can store hours of music and videos, plus thousands of photos. And, with three forms of wireless communication – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and infrared (IR) – the Pad can access and control a wide range of devices around the home, from Wi-Fi access points, to keyboards and mice, to TVs, set-top boxes, music systems, home theaters and media servers.

2.1 lbs is pretty heavy. My laptop does more and weighs about the same.

Design is nice, pretty much all in one home controller. Might be one of those gadgets for people who need those small details.

So that means we have to set aside PSP, Nintendo DS and PDA devices? I doubt about it’s brand. It’s new and it’s just come out of the market, so I have to see if it can rival the mentioned portable devices.

Still, I’ve mentioned here in KINEDA about a technology similar to the Minority Report (MR). That’s still rox my mind. If I have to choose between this device, Vista enabled devices and MR, I’ll still go with MR tech.

“Except that it runs on Linux!”

Gotta beat the competition. :P Can’t have everything run on Windows.
