The second edition of Playboy was released on the streets of Indonesia on Wednesday. The publisher moved their offices to Bali Island, after Islamic hard-liners threw rocks at its Jakarta offices following the magazine’s debut.
The latest issue features local model Joanna Alexandra flauting an alluring gaze and wearing skimpy outfits to expose her midriff and thighs. I think we need a bit more skin than that! But even with the sexy non-nude photos, Playboy Indonesia has been taking heat from hard-liners who say the content is immoral and violates criminal codes.
Frightened advertisers have responded by pulling their ads. The latest edition features a nine blank pages with a message stating, “this page is left blank intentionally and is dedicated to our loyal customers who have been threatened for placing advertisements in this magazine.” The pages were originally intended for cigarette companies, men’s perfume makers and mobile-phone companies.
