One of our readers recently responded to comments made by Lianne Lin in her interview here on Kineda asking:
“How’s a guy supposed to catch your attention if he’s not a bit pushy and aggressive? Nice guys tend to get lost in the crowd.”
There’s a difference between aggressive and confident. Confident men who attract and command the attention of women do so because of who they are, not necessarily what they do. It is the difference between trying to be the center of attention and being the center of attention. It is achieving without effort and without purpose or motive. He does not care if an impression is made or not.
This is what girls commonly mistake for being “real.” While it is indeed being “real,” it is only being real for that one person, that one personality. So the truth of the matter is that many women (like society in general) are simply attracted to those who are self-confident and self-assured. Why?
Because we are inherently attracted to that which we are not and that which wish to be.

Sounds to me like being the center of attention means having to look good.
Partially true. People who look good tend to have an advantage in this world in many things. You just have to play with the hand you’re dealt with.
