I wanted to start a new post category this year dedicated to sharing our life here at Kineda. Hopefully, it’ll give you a peek at the places we love to shop, how we play and most importantly… what we eat! First off is one of our all time favorites — shabu-shabu. We found a nice little place in Roppongi that served all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu for a roughly $40/person.

There was an hour wait in the freezing cold (Tami’s nose was literally an icicle here), but well worth it.

Mmmmm… yummy broth.

Mmmmm… even yummier broth after all the meats and vegatables cooked in it.
Those pics are making me hungry! haha
Did you 2 moved to Tokyo or are those pictures from your past trip here ?
Hmm.. Hot Pot?
Thats the way I see it.
Either way, great way to keep warm and satisfy your taste buds!
I’ve had shabu shabu but it’s never looked like that. It’s usually just boiled water and dipping sauce. What kind of broth is that?
No, still living in San Francisco… not moving to Tokyo just yet as much I’d love to!
The white broth is soy milk and the dark one is ponzu.
How do they taste? I have never had those before, only one that I mainly use is the chicken broth, haven’t really tried the beef either.
They’re awesome! The soy milk goes especially well with pork meat.
$40 a person? That’s expensive!!!
Must be some high class stuff. My local all you can eat buffet is $20/person.
Tokyo is definitely not cheap. They had so many different types and grades of meat. It was all you can eat everything. Man, I was so full. Not a big fan of soy milk (with meat) so I stuck to the ponzu sauce. YUM!
I normally eat a plate of shabu here in the States and its about $20. So all you can eat for $40, I was totally up for it! Until I ate too much…….
Lol. I can imagine the taste of meat+soymilk Mrs Ng.
That doesn’t sound good but I won’t finalize my opinion untl I try it.
You were so lucky to find such a place! When i went, we couldn’t find such places. Perhaps your time there was extended for extended exploring!
One of our friends works for Cisco Japan. He’s been living there for over two years now, so it was nice that he knew of these hidden gems. ;)
I always seem to find my way to something dealing with food when I’m hungry. $40 may sound expensive but with all you can eat I’d definitely get my money’s worth, haha
