Looks like China’s Shaolin Temple has decided to jump into the age of “Reality TV” with a show of it’s own. “Chinese Kung Fu Star Search” will invite viewers to vote for their favorite martial arts masters by text messages or through the Internet after each episode. This is similar to China’s amateur singing contest, “Inner Mongolian Cow Sour Yoghurt Supergirl” show that’s currently topping China’s ratings. The show will accept all styles of Chinese Kung Fu, and will not discrimmiate based on nationality.
The only catch is all the contestants must be men (that sucks), and practicing monks from the current Temple can’t partcipate (that sucks too). I’d love to see the first few rounds of selection while they weed out all the wannabe fighters! The finalists will then be given a part in a movie based on stories from the Shaolin Temple (don’t we have a million of these already?).
