After lunch we stopped by Chocoolate, located in the Langham Place where we’re staying. Launched in 2006, Chocoolate is an apparels brand in Hong Kong focusing on creating a fun shopping environment for trendsetters. They have some unique collabs under their belt with American brands like The Simpsons, Burger King, and most recently Mini USA.

Chocoolate’s latest collab with Mini is perfect in timing since I actually own a Mini Cooper.

I picked up two t-shirts. One with a drawing of an old school Cooper on the front and the other with the Mini logo in velvet black.

I live in San Francisco where there are some great good dim sum places, but they seriously can’t hold a candle to the master chefs here in Hong Kong. Everything is just tastier, fresher, and higher in quality. I don’t know what they put in their seafood, but I seriously think it’s some kind of crack because I can’t stop eating it. And to really top it off, this entire dim sum lunch only cost us $79 HKD which is roughly $10 US!

I’ve made it a point to find myself a plate of roast goose in Hong Kong. Last time I was here, I had no idea there was such a thing. I’ve eaten my fair share of fabulous roast duck (especially since I literally grew up in a Chinese restaurant), but I’ve never had roast goose.

My gramma told me it’d blow the socks off roast duck, and she’s right. Roast goose is intensely richer in taste and flavor than duck, although a tad bit gamier.

The only problem is that richness comes at the expense of also being extremely fatty. I could only eat two pieces before I felt like I was going to yack. I’ll think I’ll stick with plain old roast duck from now on.

The recently opened (Oct. 1st, 2007) Elements Mall atop Kowloon MTR Station in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui district, is not only the newest mall in the city, it’s the largest. With over 1 million-square-feet of retail space, the four-story Elements Mall was built to give consumers the ultimate luxury shopping experience. Designed by architectural firm Benoy – best know for Bluewater in the U.K., Europe’s largest mall – the mall’s design is based on the five elements of nature: water, earth, fire, wood and metal. Each zone features a different mix of retailers as well as artwork and interactive installations reflecting the theme.

Chris Lohan, senior associate director of Benoy, said that although the concept had changed over the years, one idea stayed the same: The mall had to be both entertaining and comprehensive. “We wanted to give something unique to both the Hong Kong population and to tourists,” said Lohan.

Famous brand retailers include Armani Exchange, Cartier, Coach, Daks, DKNY, Gucci, Prada and Zara, but shopping isn’t the only attraction. Atop Elements Mall is a 700,000-square-foot rooftop garden with alfresco dining options, 700-seat cinema, and ice rink.

If you’re planning to visit, the five-star Ritz-Carlton hotel will be the perfect place to stay. While the Elements Mall occupies the first four floors of International Commerce Centre (118 story skyscraper), the Ritz Carlson (opening in 2009) will occupy the top 15 floors of the tower – making it the highest hotel in the world.

If you’re a seafood lover like I am, there’s no other place in the world that can top the dishes created by Hong Kong’s master chefs. Make it a point to travel here, because your taste buds will thank you for it.

Here’s a series of photos different times during the year. Hong Kong is one of the two special administrative regions of the People’s Republic of China and the other being Macau. Hong Kong in Chinese means ‘The Fragrant Harbour’ and has also been called ‘The Pearl of the Orient’ and ‘The Gateway to the East’.
