An international television company in China announced the filming of a 40 episode television series, “Li Xiao Long Chuan Qi” (loosely translated as the legend of Bruce Lee). The show is a prelude to the 2008 Olympics hosted by Beijing.

China Sina Net had reported that the series would require about 5 billion dollars(RMB) to film, and is scheduled to be aired in early 2008. The producer (Yu Sheng Li) expressed that the series would be filmed in China, Hong Kong, United States, and Italy, reenacting the short but glorious life of Bruce Lee.

So who will play the role of Bruce Lee? According to sources, Nie Yuan who had acted in various series is on the list. There are also rumors about Jay Chou, who idolized Bruce Lee, being on the list. According to the director (Wu Zi Niu), Jay’s asked to play the role of Bruce Lee regardless of the payment amount.

The flames of Chou-Hou relationships are growing, and Director Yanping Zhu wants to create something new and interesting. He wants to invite Jay Chou, and Vicky Zhao in his new movie “Slam Dunk” [temporary name]and create a Chou-Zhao relationship in the movie.

Famous movie director Yanping Zhu announced yesterday that producer don’t Wu has planned out a budget of $100,000,000 for the new movie “Slam Dunk”, hoping it will be a big hit in Taiwan, HK and Mainland China.

“Slam Dunk”, which is currently being written, is no longer the same old storyline as the famous Japanese Anime “Slamdunk”. It incoporates Kung-Fu, sports, the process of how a hip-hop styled boy practices his “Bull Fight” on the basketball court. The movie has already invited “The never defeating” Cheng Xiao Dong as the action director. Hopefully the movie will be finished before the end of this year 2005, so it can be in the theaters by the New Years period of 2006.

This movie is a very high costing one, and it isn’t a small case at all. Director Yanping Zhu says,”There aren’t many male artists nowadays that are multi-talented. Takeshi Kaneshiro (who recently starred in House of Flying Daggers) can’t play basketball, then who else can? Of course it’s the Heavenly King Jay Chou!”

Jay Chou has recently earned almost USD$1,000,000 (NTD$30,000,000) in his new movie “Initial D”. Director Zhu says, “When the story is done written, we’ll show it to Jay Chou, knowing that he loves music and basketball, I believe he isn’t the type of person that values money more than the movie itself!”

Neither Patty Hou nor Jolin Tsai are suitable for the leading female role in “Slam Dunk”. Director Zhu also admits that he favors the markets of Mainland China, so he chooses Vicky Zhao for that role. Director Zhu says, “Vicky Zhao is a very outgoing and smart, I think she would make a great match with the shy, quiet, and cool-to-the-extreme Jay Chou.”
