Dell’s design crew has flexed their muscles and released the Dell Adamo — a super thin (.65-nches thick at it’s thickest point) laptop aimed squarely at Apple’s MacBook Air.

Adamo’s stylish features include a chassis milled from a single piece of aluminum, like the MacBook Air; a scalloped backlit keyboard, an edge-to-edge glass display, and a choice of onyx or pearl colors

The baseline Adamo version includes a low-power 1.2-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo SU9300 processor and a more expensive model with a 1.4-GHz Core 2 Duo SU9400 chip. Both processors fall short of tehe Air’s 1.6-GHz Core 2 Duo and 1.86-GHz Core 2 Duo configurations.

The Air also has a more powerful graphics with the Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics processor versus Adamo’s Intel GS45 integrated graphics.

The starting price is $1,999, which is more than the Air, which starts at $1,799.

Dell has clearly failed to deliver a competitive or ground breaking product.

PC World is featuring a picture article on “The World’s Most Extravagant Technology Products” and one in particular caught my eye. It’s the absurdly expensive Luvaglio laptop, with a price tag of over $1 million.

“Even if you say it like Dr. Evil, it doesn’t seem to make sense. Then again, what other laptop comes with 128GB of solid-state storage and a 17-inch backlit LED screen with its own integrated cleaner? Lesser notebooks aren’t encased in wood, leather, and precious metals. And they most certainly don’t come in a motorized box that opens itself, exposing the laptop to your waiting, impeccably manicured hands.

But here’s the clincher: Remember how Superman’s Fortress of Solitude was run by crystals? The Luvaglio laptop activates only when you insert the unique colored diamond that’s included, making the gem a power button, security device, and conversation starter all rolled into one. The expressions on your guests’ faces better be worth the price.”

If you are among those people who believe that beauty and brains do not go together, take a look at the latest notebook series announced by Intel (code-named Intel Mobile Metro) and you will be forced to think again.

This collaborative, no-holds-barred effort from Intel and Ziba Design has resulted in what is poised to be a trailblazer among laptops. Needless to say, Intel must be mighty pleased with the final specs. At a mere 0.7 inches thick, the notebook is the thinnest in the world, satisfying the company’s intention of making it the Razr among laptops.
