Started in San Francisco in July 1996, True ventured to fill a void: No stores on Haight Street were selling hip hop gear. In those days, hip hop clothing was Wu Wear, Phat Farm, and a bunch of labels that you probably never heard of and aren’t around anymore.

More than ten years later True is still on Haight Street selling hip hop gear. As the times have changed, so has “hip hop” gear. The lines between hip hop, street, skate, punk are blurring. Currently, the cool guy movement is an example of that blurring.

True has always been a big believer in not stereotyping people and that carries over into how they merchandise their stores.

Tami can’t seem to get enough of this place! We’ve been back twice since they’ve opened, and she’s fallen in love with Teaz Me’s Sparkling Green Apple and Sparkling Cranberry Buzz drinks.

While you’re at the new Westfield San Francisco Centre, don’t forget to stop by the 338,550-square-foot Bloomingdale’s, which is the largest on the West Coast.

Saturday night was just hectic. We had few birthday parties to attend before trying to make it over to HIN Nightshift at AT&T Park in San Francisco. We finally escaped the last “Happy Birthday to You” song and made it to Nightshift about 15 minutes before they closed.

Unfortunately, most of Nightshift was already done, the lights were dimming, people were packing up, and we weren’t able to get the coverage we wanted to. We missed Danity Kane live! ARRRGH. Maybe next time. Here’s a flyby of our short visit.
