Yes, you read that title right. Capcom has created a Street Fighter IV app for your Apple iPhone or iPod Touch. The fighting game will retail for $9.99 according to Capcom representative Michael Larsen. There’s currently eight characters in the roster that include Ryu, Ken, Guile, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, M. Bison and Street Fighter IV newbie Abel.

Justin Wong Wins Level|Up Street Fighter IV Tournament

This past Saturday, Level|Up held it’s first tournament in Southern California directed by Street Fighter veteran Alex Valle. The 64-man tourney included 80% of the West Coast’s top players but in the end Justin Wong proved again why he’s still the U.S. National Street Fighter Champion. Rolling through qualifications with ease, Justin faced only brief difficulty during the finals against Peter “Combofiend” Rosas. The two battled it out in a rare Cammy mirror match, never seen before in a top level tournament. Although Peter scored a few wins against Justin with his surprise choice of Cammy from left field, it wasn’t quite enough to take the title.

Level|Up also held it’s first Beat-The-Pro event where attendees had a chance to win cash by besting a “Pro” player in a two of three game match up. Alex Valle was the guest pro of the night, and two of the eight contestants (Richard Nguyen and “Juicebox”) were able to beat the seasoned veteran. Kineda World Warrior II T-Shirts

We’re back again boys and girls with alternate costumes for your favorite World Warrior! Pre-order begins Monday, February 22 for “World Warrior II” Tees, and we’ll also be doing a reprint of the original for those that missed them.

Daigo Umehara Challenges Top Players in Nagoya

Although Daigo isn’t the number one Street Fighter IV player in Japan (Mago and Ojisan Boy are ahead of him in battle points), he still gets quite the attention. The top players in Nagoya gathered together to see how they would fair against this top Ryu player. Some won by a near margin, and others simply got raped. One of my favorites is the battle against Rikuson’s Sagat where he shows off his link combo prowess. Check out the full list of Daigo/Nagoyo challenge videos here.

Super Battle Opera (SBO) 2009 DVD

Arcadia Magazine has posted a video of their upcoming Super Battle Opera 2009 DVD. The preview includes battles between Shiro vs. Gosho and Kyabetsu vs. Iyo. The DVD will be available on September 30, 2009.

Street Fighter IV Real Voice Cell Phone Action Strap

You know you’re an insane SF4 fanatic when you think a cell phone strap that plays Street Fighter 4 voices is cool! Japanese phone strap retailer Strapya has released four different (Ryu, Ken, Dhalsim, Chun Li) mini Street Fighter joysticks that play different Street Fighter 4 voice clips based on your button input combination. A hadouken movement (down, right, punch) will make Ryu say “Hadouken!”

They’re limited to 1,000 pieces and will be sold at the Ikebukuro Tokyu Hands shop for ¥1,260 (about $13 each).

Neokarsh Defeats Sofichan and Wins Kineda’s First SFIV Tourney

About one month ago we ran our first ever XBL Street Fighter IV Tournament with a total of 22 entrants. There were some amazing matches, and if you missed them be sure to check out the thread for recap videos uploaded by some of the participants. Everyone gave it their all but in the end only one could win. Neokarsh who used Sagat breezed through the entire tourney without a single match loss. Sofichan came very close with his solid and patient Ryu, but unfortunately any mistake was punished with either a meaty damage combo or an Ultra — something that Neokarsh rarely misses.

Congrats to all who placed in our first tourney, and be sure to look out for our PS3 SFIV Tourney coming in a couple of weeks!

Evo 2009 Handheld Panoramic Photo

I did my best to get a panoramic shot of Evo 2009 without my trusty tripod. I wish brought it with me since the lighting was really poor at the convention center. A HDR multiple exposure shot would’ve helped a lot.

Evo 2009 Ryu Combo Video Exhibition

If you missed the Ryu combo video exhibition at Evo 2009, you can now view it online. The video was put together by Majestros from Sonic Hurricane and features some insane Ryu combos that I imagine could only happen during practice mode. Of course, don’t tell that to the Japanese players who seem to be able to pull this stuff off in regular play.
