Pioneering luxury Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer and electric carmaker Tesla Motors have teamed up in a worldwide partnership as the iconic Swiss brand celebrates its 150th anniversary. On display at the Geneva Motor Show is the 2010 TAG Heuer Tesla Roadster.

This one-of-a-kind collector’s car includes a unique interior by Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, incorporating TAG Heuer avant-garde design elements and a specially designed center console due to host TAG Heuer’s cutting edge concept watch, to be revealed in Basel on March 18.

Tag Heuer’s sleek Grand Carrera ($6900) chronograph dial sits under scratch-resistant sapphire crystal on a stainless steel tachymeter watch. Comes with a black alligator strap that is topped with red stitching.

Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer will be releasing the Carrera Caliber 5 next month with Clous de Paris dial decoration. This performance watch features a steel bracelet and an aluminum bezel case. Available in black or brown.

Once in a while a concept watch becomes reality, which is the case with the Tag Heuer Monaco LS which has been featured at Baselworld the past few years. The movement is a basic Dubois Depraz calibre so that the seconds, shown in a linear date opening, can be read linearly from the tip of a double red rhodium hand. The dial, inspired by the MONACO 360 Concept Chronograph, the polished bridges, the translucent embossed numerals, the chronograph dials and the angled date opening are voice and counter-voice in a black, deliberately hi-tech song sheet. The 40.5 mm case, waterproof down to 100 m, simply had to be made of polished or brushed stainless steel, and its ergonomic shape is achieved thanks to the generously curved and bevelled sapphire glass.

Tag Heuer has announced that they are ready to enter the mobile phone market, in a partnership with custom phone maker ModeLabs. The image above is an early mockup of their cell phone watch line.

Launched in a limited edition of 3,500 pcs, its pushbuttons are boldly positioned on the top of the case, ergonomically inclined at 45 degrees; a timekeeping scale is audaciously placed inside the case on a rotating, mechanic, unidirectional ring driven by a second crown at 9 o’clock. The exterior bezel, elegantly polished in black finish and engraved “SLR,” is thus able to feature a tachymeter, like those used by professional racers to calculate speed.
