Autodromo releases their watch collection inspired by the world of mid-century auto racing. Each watch has a vintage feel, alloyed with a clean, uncluttered modernist design philosophy.
The Void V01LED-BR/BL watch uses a LED display that remains unlit until you press the time/date display button. With the LED display being the predecessor of LCDs, it gives the watch a nice retro feel.
By agreement with Taito Corporation, RJ-Romain Jerome is paying tribute to late-20th century pop culture by launching a double limited-edition of Space Invaders watches. The two 78-piece limited series (in allusion to the year they were launched, 1978) are distinguished by their dial. One is composed of three layers of pixelated and shotpeened dies featuring hand-drawn file strokes.
The 3.5 mm-sized Space Invaders are lacquered in different colors (« day » version) or coated with Superluminova (« night » version), each individually machined and hand-applied. The case, in black PVD stainless steel, measures 46mm. It has a sapphire crystal and is water resistant to 30 meters. Movement is the Swiss automatic Romain Jerome caliber RJ001-A with 23 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours.
Casio has recently launched their upscale Edifce Black Label collection in the United States. Building on the popularity of Casio’s G-Shock line, this collection features many of the same functions, such as worldtimers, chronographs and more. However, instead of the standard resin case, that usually costs under a $100 within the G-Shock line, this collection moves up to stainless steel cases with a hard black PVD treatment. The new collection consists of 5 models that vary in price range from $150 all the way up to $500 for the top of the line.
The Nooka Zub Zirc ($130) combines the familiarity of a clock face with Nooka’s intuitive concept of time. Reading like an analog watch, the 12 dots represent hours while the horizontal row counts minutes, with a small window counting up the seconds. The Zirc face rests on a 20mm polyurethane band and features an alarm mode as well as a chronograph mode.
