The Karate Kid – Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith

Remember “The Karate Kid” with Pat Morita and Ralph Macchio? Get ready for a remake with Jackie Chan and 11-year-old Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s son). The only problem is that they shouldn’t have named this “The Karate Kid,” since there’s absolutely zero karate in the movie. Everything that Jackie teaches Jaden in the trailer in pure kung fu, so why not call it “The Kung Fu Kid” instead?

    exactly what i was thinking.

this is only going to perpetuate the misuse of karate as a term covering all martial arts.. particularly kung fu. arg

What Jackie Chan movie is it where at the end Jackie runs over a bunch of exotic cars in a big yellow dump truck. Then he proceeds to run into a big building with it.

Yes, he’s been in a lot of movies, but the actual number is complicated by the fact that a lot of them were made for various Hong Kong movie companies that may or may not be in existence anymore, and some of his early works may be lost.

This was a great movie! I liked it so much more then the other Karate Kid movies. The other movies were good though. This one with will smiths son really was the best one i thought. I am going to buy it on dvd for sure when it comes out.

I would have to agree with Thomas this movie was really good. I though it was just going to be like all the other karate kid movies. After watching the movie for about 30 minutes i already new it was going to be a classic and it was. Great movie, everyone should see it!
    Sincerely, Matt Huston

What remains in a name? Shakespeare had also said that buddy. Whether it is karate ki or kungfu kid doesn’t matter. the matter is its a good movie to watch and enjoyable one.
