The Pursuit of Happyness

The Pursuit of Happyness

Ever since “Bad Boys” came out in 1995, Will Smith has made it a point to be the starring role, in at least one blockbuster film a year. Last year it was “Hitch,” but this year it’ll be “The Pursuit of Happyness,” acting along side his son, Jadon Smith.

The Pursuit of Happyness is a true story of a once-homeless single father, Christopher Gardner, who raised himself up to become a successful stock broker.

Chris Gardner is a bright and talented, but marginally employed salesman. Struggling to make ends meet, Gardner finds himself and his five-year-old son evicted from their San Francisco apartment with nowhere to go. When Gardner lands an internship at a prestigious stock brokerage firm, he and his son endure many hardships, including living in shelters, in pursuit of his dream of a better life for the two of them.

Check out the trailer. It’s gonna be a tear-jerker.

I think it’s so cute that they had Will Smith’s son play Chris Gardener’s son in the film. Never too early to start them on daddy’s path! :)

    Will Rocks!

Interestingly, the movie is set around the former Dean-Witter which merged with Morgan Stanley in 1997. For that alone, I’ll have to watch it to assess the state of the ibanking world a decade ago.

I was checking his biography (his website) and it said that the stock broker was making $80 000 USD a month, talk about some mad money making. – Reserving my copy at my local library, can’t wait to read it.

i saw the trailer for this film in the previews for James Bond Casino Royale, and i swear i had a single tear rolling down my cheek. also inspired me to… try a little harder in getting my education. i want my children to have comfortable lives, secure, with enough time for love. i think will smith will be the perfect actor for this film and story and character. his intense emotional scenes are fantastic.

i feel that chris and will have a specail bond even though they probaly don’t know each other. they both do pusui happyness [ wrong spelling ] and i did see the movie and it made me cry. i was weeping all over my popcorn. it’s a sad but uplifting movie that inspired me to do somehting about my life. that’s why i’ve decided to make the only new years resoluvtion i’ve ever kept: to pursue happyness [ wrong spelling ] and go for my dreams. to reach the sky and try my hardest to stay p there even though i don’t have wings…
