PC World is featuring a picture article on “The World’s Most Extravagant Technology Products” and one in particular caught my eye. It’s the absurdly expensive Luvaglio laptop, with a price tag of over $1 million.
“Even if you say it like Dr. Evil, it doesn’t seem to make sense. Then again, what other laptop comes with 128GB of solid-state storage and a 17-inch backlit LED screen with its own integrated cleaner? Lesser notebooks aren’t encased in wood, leather, and precious metals. And they most certainly don’t come in a motorized box that opens itself, exposing the laptop to your waiting, impeccably manicured hands.
But here’s the clincher: Remember how Superman’s Fortress of Solitude was run by crystals? The Luvaglio laptop activates only when you insert the unique colored diamond that’s included, making the gem a power button, security device, and conversation starter all rolled into one. The expressions on your guests’ faces better be worth the price.”

Wow, to bad it costs so much and if you loose that special gem, you’re out of luck. To bad the HDD didn’t stay current with the other specs of the laptop.

Wow, all that in the name of style. I would love to have that gem activation, but for my house or something. And the site is so exclusive which really adds to the intrigue. I love it.

I would rather spend the money on purchasing enough laptops that equal the asking price and donate it to schools who really need the laptops for thier students. $1Million for a laptop sorry but thats just excessive.

Those expensive laptops can’t compare to the lower “end” laptops. You can probably even make yourself a computer that is a more secured, not physically but internally (software) using keypass (opensource - highly recommend) and even customize to your liking. It’s totally cheaper and you don’t have to worry that it’ll be stolen by thieves.

…wow, that seems absurdly over priced. I think anyone would take 2 high end sports cars… or a house over a high end laptop?? Well then again, this is aimed at people with too much money… I wonder what their profit margin is on this though. I would rather have a 17″ macbook over this still…

are you kidding me? the superman really exist? he live in this laptop? =D
totaly over priced, who have so secret files to protect them like this?! only FBI, SAS,NASA,… -

Yeah, but how heavy is the machine? For a million dollars, it better be able to sprout legs and walk behind you for that ultimate portability.
Sony’s 2 lb TXN laptops are pretty nice.

Lets hope that the money is going towards the gem diamond, and not the laptop components. The Luvaglio Laptop looks really nice and from its luxurious features, I would definitely pay an extra thousand for it. The fact that you use a Gem as a power device makes it pretty safe from being stolen(even if it was stolen, it cant be used)is something new. But when the Luvaglio costs over 1 million….. I’d like to see who’d buy that laptop, mayabe Bill Gates?? so that he can design a 1million dollar laptop using a totally new windows?
