The rumors about an upgraded version of the Xbox 360 have been confirmed. Microsoft officially announced today that they’ll be releasing a new black version of its Xbox 360 console called the Xbox 360 Elite ($479.99). Upgrades include a 120GB Hard Drive ($179.99 available separately) and HDMI 1080p output, while the rest remains about the same.
The sad part is they still left out the HD DVD player, so you’ll have to shell out another $199 to play high-def DVDs.
1up has a run down of their feelings about the Elite and it doesn’t look like they’re too happy about this release.

Twice the hd space over the PS3, but add $120 towards a PS3 on top of the $479.99 price tag and you can also watch your movies in Hi-Def a-la Blu-Ray. Plus, you can upgrade the PS3 hd if you choose to. I don’t like the idea of how the hardware was upgraded. Its great for those who don’t own a 360, yet. It sucks for those who do.

^ - There’s always plenty of console arguments :P
If Microsoft is desperate to release the XBOX360 Elite, I can imagine Sony releasing a PS3 “Special Edition” combating against Microsoft. Updates are nothing more, just stick to the original. :)

PS3 is better for long period investment, I don’t think I want to spent another upgraded console.
it’s a waste of money, if PS3 do the same like that, then I prefer use my money to buy wii.
