Your Activation Requires Additional Time to Complete

Activation Apple iPhone

I got my hands on the infamous Apple iPhone, but it hasn’t been a great experience so far. Luckily, I didn’t have to stand in any lines to get it or I would have shot myself!

Let me start by saying the activation process of this phone has been a royal pain in the butt. After purchasing the phone and trying to activate it through iTunes, I get a message near the end saying that it’ll take three minutes to process my registration:

Please wait while AT&T is processing your activation. This may take up to 3 minutes.

Three minutes pass and nothing. Finally after 30 minutes of waiting, I get another message that tells me I’ll get an email notification when its activated:

Your activation requires additional time to complete. You will receive an e-mail confirmation to tami@xxxxxx.com once your activation is complete.

Six hours later, my iPhone is still not activated! Maybe, my issue is a bit more complicated, being that I was on an AT&T “blue” account and having to migrate to a newer Cingular “orange” account, but it still shouldn’t be this difficult! I can’t be the only one in this situation right? I’ve been on the phone all night with AT&T (with countless reps), and it seems that I’ll have to wait until the morning for the AT&T migration team to help me further.

Ugh! All this for the infamous Apple iPhone! I can’t even tell you what the phone is like because it isn’t activated yet! NOT cool….

I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow…..til then good night!

P.S. I hope you guys have a better experience than I did with this damn thing ;)

*Update – Saturday, June 30th – 8am*
It’s now the next morning, and still no darn activation e-mail. I’ve been on phone with customer care, as well as Apple. and no one seems to know what’s wrong. ARGH!

It looks like I’m not the only one plagued with this issue:

That really sucks. I’ve had a similar experience with buying a new computer – one of the parts were DOA, so I had to wait 2 weeks to get it replaced.

I hope your activation thing works out by today :P

Its the Y2K striking for all iPhone fans alike. I bet at the Apples HQ, they’re phone lines are all probably tangeled up right now. Only thing to do is sleep and let the activation comes to you.

I’ve been reading everywhere about people having problems trying to get their iphone to work. It’s a pretty sad launch for Apple if you ask me. :(

Too much hype and not enough delivery.
